Niger state has been plunged into mourning following the death of Justice Ahmed Lemu.
Lemu died on Thursday, December 23, according to a Facebook post by a relative of the aged jurist, Maryam Lemu. He was 91, Daily Trust reports.
“Inna lillahi wa inna liayhi raji’un. It is with sadness and reverence to Allah that we announce the passing away of our father, Dr. Justice Sheikh Ahmed Lemu OFR, in the early hours of this morning in Minna. “Burial arrangements to be announced later,” the post read.
A foremost Nigerian jurist, the retire grand khadi is best remembered for piloting the panel set up by former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2011 to review the violence that marred the year’s presidential election.
