35 senior officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have been marked for retirement. Colonel Hameed Ali (rtd) who is the new Head of the Customs had vowed to clean up the Customs Services
Yesterday, 5 DCG of Customs retired Voluntarily from the Service
Abdullahi Dikko the Former Customs Boss stepped down as the comptroller-general after his tenure was not extended by President Muhammadu Buhari. With all the five deputies who served under him quitting the service, this is the first time that all senior officers on a particular rank will resign at the same time in the 100-year history of the agency.
President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed Hameed Ali to head the service. Hameed Ali promised to transform customs, which has been a bastion of corruption allegations over the years.
“The days of corruption are gone. Anybody caught shall not be left to go scot-free. I am a stickler for the enforcement of the law. There is need for law and order, and it is important to follow the rules as they are so that we all do not have problems,” Colonel Hameed Ali said during his maiden working visit to Lagos.
